Busy Weekend
What makes for a good roadtrip?
Reba. Steeped Tea. Sunflower Seeds. Cruise Control.
And no stopping!
What a busy weekend. I had a roomie from college get married this weekend (i'll post more on the wedding later. ) and I decided to make the long trek to Abbotsford. The drive down was uneventful. I took the long way through the Crowsnest Pass so I could avoid the traffic back up in Golden due to the mud slide. I rather enjoyed the route even though it was slightly longer. I'm glad that I was blessed with the ability to be content in a car for a long period of time because I only stopped twice. I packed "supplies" (AKA licorice and spits and water...oh my!) and hit the road early to beat the traffic. I was quite impressed with myself as I found my hotel without any problems and was quite grateful to crawl into bed early and watch TV amid the many fluffy pillows. I think I need to move my TV to my bedroom.
The wedding on Saturday was glorious. Hands down, it was the best wedding I have ever been too. Simple. Fun. Lovely. Karin. The bad thing about weddings is that you don't really get to see the bride and groom but I was happy for the few minutes I did get to see her and give her a hug. The wedding was a mini-Capes reunion and it was strange to see people that I thought I'd never see again. Some, I was happy to reconnect with...some I know that I'm ok if I don't see them again! HAHA.
On Sunday, I awoke to the rain and dragged myself out of bed so that I could head to Surrey. Why Surrey...you must be asking? Well, the boy was coaching a team of Special Olympic Athletes in a soccer tourney and I decided that since I was only about 1 hour away, I could make the trek to watch for the day. After I actually got there, (no thanks to his directions!) I had fun watching and getting to actually know the names of some of his athletes. Despite the pouring rain and seeping cold, it was fun. And...I now know that if it doesn't work out with me and him, I have other options ;) After we got back to the hotel, they all headed bowling and I had myself a little nap in my room. I even missed most of Simpsons! Boo...
Monday, I left around 8 and was looking forward to the drive home. Thank goodness for cruise control! The drive home wasn't nearly as relaxing as people felt the need to drive like morons. I will not deny that there may have been some excessive speeding on my part as well. I grooved to Reba, sang my heart out and watching the amazing countryside go by. I made good time because of my lack of stopping and was happy to not have to sit too long at Golden due to the mudslide. Then a stop for supper at McDs and home again, home again...jiggity jig!
I do love roadtrips and think I may need to do it again soon...maybe back to Abbotsford to hang out with the new couple before they move to Australia or maybe someplace else. We'll see!

Glad you had a great time and that your car made it. Mom was very worried. There is nothing like cranking the tunes, eating candy and singing Reba. I also like Celine in those moments.
Ha! Supplies. I think you missed mentioning one because no woman can drive that long and drink without stopping.
Yes, I did worry. Silly, doesn't matter where you go,(Africa vs. BC)parents still worry.
At least I called when I got there and got back home. It was only to ease your mind.
