Lunch Anyone?

Obviously, I need to go grocery shopping.

Condiments and liquor don't exactly equal a balanced diet...

"Till The Wheels Fall Off!

Last year, on the last Wednesday of October, was a rather eventful evening.

I was living at home to save for my trip.

I branched out and decided to actually get involved at my church to meet some new people. I joined a small group of "singles" and it was my first meeting with them.

I came home, exhilerated at the fun time I had and knew that these women were going to be new friends.

I had put a message in the Fast Forward magazine. (FYI-Just because you miss something, doesn't mean you want it back. I miss the simplicity of using a banana clip to do my hair. I don't want them to come back.)

My cell rang...the ex.

Coffee? Sure. Wait. I'm backing out. The thought of getting my heart ripped out again was too much to even consider.

The next day, I got that fantastic email.(and by fantastic, I mean that reading it made me cry in the middle of an interview with MY replacement) I blocked most of it from my memory but it was informing me of an engagement...to HER! Crap. What? A wedding in the fall?

I cried. I bitched. I vented. I bitched. And I cried.

And I got over it....slowly...very, very slowly.

What a differance a year makes.

Arms Up! Legs Up. Pull, Pull, PULL

This is what I was doing a year ago today. My cousin Bek decided she wanted to go skydiving a whole 3 weeks before her wedding. Crazy? perhaps but it was a blast! The best part was that her fiancee didn't know she was jumping out of a plane until she was on her way to get in the plane! I'll bet more than a few traffic laws were broken that day as he came to meet us but it was quite the reunion when she landed.

We jumped tandem, mostly because the bride was afraid of breaking her leg if we jumped solo. I don't think a cast would have been the worst thing...but I don't blame her. Besides, if you jump tandem, you get to jump from 10, 000 feet instead of a measly 3000 solo AND you get to free fall for about 35 seconds...which seems like eternity when you are plummeting towards your death. Our instructor was good...we had a great time...and a bit sore the next day from the harness and well, the stress on our bodies after jumping out of a plane.

Would I do it again? In a heartbeat.

Back Away From The Ipod.

I want this Ipod. I really, really, want it. It is part of the campaign called Product (Red) which supports Africa. Part of the proceeds from all the Red nanos goes toward a donation to Global Fund, which fights AIDS, TB and malaria.

Seems like a good cause.

Except...that Bono is involved.

Stupid Bono. Why, why, why, does he have to be involved in EVERYTHING.

Now I can't get this ipod. Blasted all!

McDreamy

In the past 2 days....I have watched 14 episodes of Grey's Anatomy.

5 yesterday and 9 today. I started at 6:30 tonight...finished off most of a pizza (sue me...I hadn't eaten much all day!) and spent the past 8 hours on my couch, watching good TV, crying and totally engrossed in the lives of the interns at Seattle Grace.

I have got to get over this thing for musicians and find me an attending physician. Preferabily by the name of Dr. Shepherd...or even Dr. Burke...I'm not picky at this point.

Only 9 more episodes, and I'm all caught up to season 3.

Next on the marathon drama list...Lost. Maybe I'll move from attendings to shipwreck survivors. I heard they are not hard to look at either.

Sign Me Up!

So, let me see if I got this right...

You want me to commit 1 Saturday a month for the next year learning from Damon Dunn, who has been mentored by Condoleeza Rice's father, has played 4 NFL seasons, has atteneded Harvard School of Business, owns a very successful real estate firm in 3 major cities in the US and is a multi-millionaire?

You want me to read 1 book a month, starting with Courageous Leadership by Bill Hybels of Willowcreek Church and others written by incredible leaders of our time and then write a 3-4 page essay?

You want me to use my talents and gifts in administration to organize and help implement a fundraising campaign that will not just raise thousands but hundreds of thousands of dollars?

You want me to be apart of a high energy, passion-filled young adult worship service which will reach our lost friends, those people who are searching and will help raise up a new generation of leaders?

I will get to be mentored and supported and encouraged by my church leadership, elders and other young leaders to discover what my role is in the body?

I will learn practical skills for business and leadership and strategy that will go beyond church lines?

Oh...and just to be clear...I will get to take 4 field trips over the next year including one coming up in December to Arizona's Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and an opportunity to watch the Cardinals play? And this trip has already been funded (for 35 of us) by one of your NFL buddies?

SIGN ME UP!

I Must Be Tired

Guess who went to yoga last night with her pants on inside out?

Yup...it was me! The actually look exactly the same inside out....but the drawstring was the give away.

Luckily, I caught the "mistake" before I got out of my car and then I hustled my little inside-out-butt into the washroom for the switcharoo.

I don't think anyone noticed but I still feel like a dork. A big dork.

At least we did a lot of forward bends and poses in yoga that I was good at. That helped my pride a bit....

Fact of the Day...

More than 13 million children in sub-Saharan Africa have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS. This is more than the total number of children under age 18 in Canada, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Ireland combined

So Long Weekend

Phew...another busy weekend is over and only 5 days till the next long weekend. Yippee! This weekend was a crazy busy one...let me fill you in, just in case you cared!

I Blew off work on Friday night to hang out at the mall with some co-workers. Cara needed new frames and I tagged along. It almost made me wish that I needed a new pair of glasses because there were so many fun frames to try on. There are also a LOT of ugly/expensive frames.

Saturday I had to work EXTRA hard because I skipped on Friday. I got a good 7 hours of typing in and I am still behind. Boo to that. Maybe I'll get caught up this week. Maybe not.

Satuday night I hung out with the 'rents' and some family for my Grandpa's 66th b-day. There was chicken (good), cake (good) and coffee (ok). I can't really complain though as it was a free meal. I do enjoy free....

Today was the CIBC Run for the Cure down at Southcentre Mall. It was at the ungodly hour of 9am so Carmen and I headed to the train (and a pitstop at Starbucks) just after 7am! No...I didn't run but we did do the 5k walk at a fairly brisk pace and under 1 hour. In the rain. But, it was a blast and I think I might attempt to run it next year. I know, I know, such a lofty goal. There were 10 of us walking in memory of Christy, who passed away in May. It was rainy and cold and we all looked like drowned rats when we crossed the finish line but it was cool to see how excited people were as we walked through their neighbourhoods and how in to it a lot of particpates were. There is something about a man in a pink tutu that will always make me laugh! Then we headed to Milestones for some uber yummy brunch and headed home.

I spent the rest of the day sleeping, cleaning my pathetically messy apartment and going grocery shopping. The excitement was unending!

So that was my weekend. Not too exciting but busy nonetheless.
